Starting Price
A short, well-paced trip from Kampala to meet Uganda's mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You travel privately by road with a professional driver-guide, stopping at the Equator for the water experiments, at Mpambire Drum Village to meet traditional drum-makers, and in Mbarara for lunch before reaching the Buhoma area. Trek day begins with a ranger briefing at the park headquarters, then a walk into ancient forest to find a gorilla family and spend time with them under the park's viewing rules. The return to Kampala winds through the terraced hills of Kabale. Choose budget, mid-range or upmarket lodges to suit your style.

After breakfast at your Kampala hotel, meet your driver-guide and head southwest. At the Equator, watch the water experiments and take photos on the line between the hemispheres, then visit Mpambire Drum Village to meet the artisans who craft Uganda's traditional drums. Lunch is in Mbarara, after which the landscape changes as you travel deeper into the southwest. Later in the day, arrive in the Buhoma area of Bwindi, check in and rest before trek day. Overnight: Gorilla Forest Camp or Gorilla Resort (upmarket), Lake Kitandara Camp or Buhoma Lodge (mid-range), or Buhoma Community Bandas (budget) Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
